working to stave off attacks on gay people or the gay community?
The following is a list of organizations that participate in the political
arena in Washington and in the US, that may interest you.

Safe Schools Coalition
of Washington: A coalition of organizations and individuals
working to make Washington schools safe places where every family can belong,
where every educator can teach and where every child can learn, regardless
of sexual orientation or gender identity. SSC offers intervention/advocacy
for individual students who are having problems with anti-gay harassment
at school; provides training for school staff and students on preventing
and handling anti-gay harassment; publishes reports on anti-gay harassment
and violence in schools; publishes a Safe Schools Resource Guide containing
books, websites, posters, etc. for use in schools and community referral
resources; produces and distributes public services announcements about
anti-gay harassment in schools; provides consultation and technical assistance
to school administrators, school boards and legislators; provides an email
listserv and a website to keep educators, students and activists all over
the state informed about GLBT youth and schools.

& Education Fund: The nation's oldest and largest
legal organization working for the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, and
people with HIV/AIDS.
